A hidden truth.
Mortal enemies.
Doomed love.
Marked as special at an early age, Jacinda knows her every move is watched. But she longs for freedom to make her own choices. When she breaks the most sacred tenet among her kind, she nearly pays with her life. Until a beautiful stranger saves her. A stranger who was sent to hunt those like her. For Jacinda is a draki—a descendant of dragons whose greatest defense is her secret ability to shift into human form.
Forced to flee into the mortal world with her family, Jacinda struggles to adapt to her new surroundings. The only bright light is Will. Gorgeous, elusive Will who stirs her inner draki to life. Although she is irresistibly drawn to him, Jacinda knows Will's dark secret: He and his family are hunters. She should avoid him at all costs. But her inner draki is slowly slipping away—if it dies she will be left as a human forever. She'll do anything to prevent that. Even if it means getting closer to her most dangerous enemy.
Mythical powers and breathtaking romance ignite in this story of a girl who defies all expectations and whose love crosses an ancient divide.

A book about DRAGONS! How did I miss this?

When Jacinda finds herself in trouble in the Pride, she's dragged out into the mortal world with her mom and twin sister. Firelight is mostly about Jacinda adapting to the mortal world and finding herself going to the same school as Will. The same hunter who saved her life. Jacinda is also on the run from the Pride but was unsuccessful at keeping the Pride's heir away, Cassian.

What makes Jacinda so special is that she's a fire-breathing draki, which happens to be a very rare trait. Unlike other girls, Jacinda knows exactly who she is and what she can do. She doesn't doubt for one second that she is a draki which is awesome! At first it was a bit rough getting to like Jacinda, but she's so determined in everything she does that makes her this fierce heroine.

There is this sort of love triangle that was really interesting. Where Will is the guy keeping her from the Pride, Cassian is the guy trying to get her back to the Pride.

Will is this strong hunter that happens to be the best at what he does. He came off a bit too... possessive. I couldn't find that same person at the beginning of the book, but at the same time I liked that a lot because I had the chance to see all of Will.

I can totally see where Cassian can be labeled as "the bad guy"since he wants to take Jacinda back to the Pride. He's the heir to the Pride who wants to be with Jacinda so they could reproduce the most amazing drakis. Yeah, I know that sounds wrong, but like Will these two characters aren't what they are on the surface.

The story was very fast paced and easy to read. It was simple, fun, exciting, and just plain old awesome fantasy! I really love Sophie Jordan's writing!
