Top Ten Books: I'm Glad Were Recommended To Me

Monday, May 2, 2011

This week's Top Ten Tuesday are books that you're glad were recommended to you.

1) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
This was recommended to me by one of my best friends Allison (who isn't a blogger). I would never think of picking up a dystopia a few months ago so I didn't think much of it. I'm crazy glad that she mentioned this book to me because this was amazing.

2) Nightshade by Andrea Cremer
I actually saw this book around on a lot of blogs so it was kind of recommended by all of you guys who reviewed/posted about Nightshade. I'm not sure why it took me this long to read this but grateful for those who posted about this.

2) Wither by Lauren DeStefano
Wither was introduced to me by a review from Brent at The Naughty Book Kitties. The book sounded so great that I had to go check it out and it was amazing!

3) City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
A friend of mine from school name Giovana recommended that I should read The Mortal Instruments series and am really grateful that she did. Now I'm such a TMI fangirl.

4) Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly
I read a review from my librarian, Ms.Blair, about how awesome this was and had to read it to believe it myself. I'm not much of a historical fiction kind of person but I really enjoyed this book. It actually became one of my favorites.

5) The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima
I just love this book and the series! I can't remember which vlogger it was who reviewed this book but really glad she reviewed it and made me go buy it. (Apologies for not remembering who it was.) One of my favorite series ever!

6) Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
Unearthly was brought to my attention by a bunch of bloggers who reviewed/posted about it. I am really into the whole angel thing going on and super glad that I ran into some reviews. I <3 Blog Reviews!

Sorry this isn't 10 but I haven't read enough to have a lot to choose from. What books are you glad that were recommended to you?

If you also participated in this meme add your link with your comment and I'd like to check it out.

  6. So many amazing books up there that I'm so glad you picked up from recommendations! Like The Hunger Games (one of my favourite ever series), Wither, Nightshade, Unearthly - I LOVED them.

I think the two big ones recommended to me that I am insanely grateful for is Harry Potter (well, technically I was forced since we read them in class, grade 6! Now it's such a huge part of my life) and Vampire Academy series, which was recommended by bloggers a few years ago. And now I'm a huge fan!

  10. Most of these titles I've heard of because other bloggers really loved them but I can't say I've read any of them yet or they'd probably be on my list too. But I do plan to read them and wouldn't have given them a second thought otherwise.

  15. I totally agree about The Hunger Games. I put off reading it for so long because I was like "why would I want to read about kids killing each other?" but as my book tastes started broadening and everyone was FREAKING OUT about good the books were when Catching Fire came out I was like "Ok, I'll read them". Yah. So, so good.

  17. I'm glad recommendations got you into The Hunger Games and the dystopian genre! Isn't it fabulous? I definitely recommend checking out Divergent by Veronica Roth, if you haven't -- Tris is a lot like Katniss, and it's an all-around great read!

I'm also glad to hear you enjoyed Unearthly! That's one of my faves so far this year =D
