Blue Moon by Alyson Noel

Series: The Immortals #2
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Release Date: July 7, 2009
Paperback: 284 pages
Source: Library

Eager to learn everything she can about her new abilities as an Immortal, Ever turns to her beloved Damen to show her the way. But just as her powers are increasing, Damen’s are waning. In an attempt to save him, Ever travels to the magical dimension of Summerland, where she learns the secrets of Damen’s tortured past; a past which he has always kept hidden from her. But in her quest to cure Damen, Ever discovers an ancient text that details the workings of time. Now Ever must chose between turning back the past and saving her family from the accident that claimed their lives—or staying in the present and saving Damen, who grows sicker every day..

My Opinion:

Blue Moon brings us into Ever's new life as being an immortal as well as her now developed relationship with Damen. While Ever and Damen are being all lovey-dovey their relationship takes an unexpected turn when a new guy comes to town, Roman. Damen becomes ill and everyone in school starts acting weird. Her friends start drifting from Ever and so is Damen.

I was intrigued by the plot and how everything is turned upside down. I wasn't pleased with how Ever took things though. She broke down and coped, but later on finally faced the problem head on. Ava was also another character I was disappointed in. I don't want spoil things but she lost part of her wiseness. Roman was a really nice addition to the story. He's definitely arrogant and is very sure of himself.

The writing wasn't as great but the plot was interesting. It was a great read that kept me guessing until the last page. Just a heads up, there is a cliffhanger! After an ending like that I'll be looking into the next book, Shadowland.

Overall Rating: 3 out of 5

  2. Great review. I felt the same way about the writing. I've read all the books that have been released so far and I'm not sure if I really like the series or not. For whatever reason I feel compelled to keep reading them.
